Information of Note:
-Testing has 2 administrations: The Performance Based Tests are given earlier (Mar/April). They include various forms of test questions including written response. The End of Course Exams (April/May) are multiple choice.
**Scores from both tests combine to give a final score. -The PARCC Testing will require well developed essays beyond just the 2 and 4 point questions. Students will be expected to read deeply and understand complex text. Students will be asked to write essays with introduction, body & conclusion. -Students will have to produce an edited paper in one sitting. To prepare, students should be grading their own papers using the rubrics. (see below) -All multiple choice questions have 2 parts. Students will always have to cite evidence to support answers. If student misses the first part they cannot get score for the second part. To prepare add the evidence requirement to all multiple choice tests you give. -Students will need to be able to listen to get meaning without the written text. They must be able to figure out unknown words through speech. Listenaminute.com learnoutloud.com |
For the writing claim, performance level descriptors are written for the two sub-claims: (1) written expression, and (2) knowledge of language and conventions. Factors differentiating the performance levels for writing include how consistently and fully students develop ideas, including when drawing evidence from one or more sources, how well they organize their writing, and their command of grammar and language usage.
